This paper explores the role of social capital in enhancing community resilience in Indonesia, focusing on the intersection between social networks and risk management. Utilizing a qualitative approach through a comprehensive literature review, the study examines how communities in Indonesia leverage social networks as a resource for coping with and recovering from various risks, including natural disasters, economic crises, and public health emergencies. The findings suggest that social capital, defined by the strength and structure of interpersonal networks, plays a crucial role in mitigating risks by fostering cooperation, trust, and information sharing within communities. Social networks are particularly significant in rural areas, where traditional forms of social capital (e.g., kinship and community-based organizations) have been instrumental in facilitating rapid responses to crisis situations. Additionally, the paper highlights the role of government and non-governmental organizations in strengthening social capital through collaborative initiatives, which enhance community preparedness and response strategies. The study further reveals that social capital not only influences risk management practices but also contributes to the long-term sustainability of recovery efforts by reinforcing solidarity and collective action. The findings underscore the importance of integrating social capital into risk management frameworks, offering valuable insights for policymakers and development practitioners aiming to build resilient communities in Indonesia and similar contexts.
